8th September 2012: Reminiscence filming at Vetch Field
It was the day after the actual 100th anniversary of the first match in 1912, but as close as we could get. We were joined at the Vetch Field site for an afternoon of nostalgia and reminiscence. The event was filmed by our partners Undercurrents, a Swansea-based community video production company and can be watched here.
The Vetch is a strange place now, and it is surprisingly hard to work out where everything was, but with the help of our trusty volunteers we were able to relive some of the great moments that were played out there.
One of the last bits of the original walls left…..
Tash Smith relaxes in between filming interviews. Surely it was never this sunny during any actual Vetch game?
Peter Dawson relives a chanting moment on the mound which is roughly on the site of the old North Bank
Helen Iles from Undercurrents talking to Roy and Jason Griffiths – somewhere in the East Stand!
The view north across the Sandfields towards Mount Pleasant and Townhill beyond – once filled with the architectural magnificence of the North Bank!
The centre circle – it must be preserved as many Swans’ fans have had their ashes scattered there
